The ESFA would like to congratulate both Stratford upon Avon and St Bede’s for making it through to the Premier League U16 Schools’ Cup for Girls’ National Final, to be played this Friday 1 May at Birmingham City FC!

All three Premier League finals are scheduled to be hosted throughout Friday and the Girls’ will be kicking off the whole day as the opening match at 10am.

Ahead of Friday’s festivities, please find below a short bio on both of the schools taking part in the match.

Stratford upon Avon School

Stratford Upon Avon U16 Girls' Team

Since Stratford introduced girls’ football in 2011, they have seen the sport flourish with the girls’ collectively winning more than 20 trophies in 5 years. The school has seen achievements at both a regional and national level and no doubt aim to add another trophy to their collection in this Premier League final.

The School has several students performing to a high level, including Team Captain, Mollie Rouse who has represented England in the U17 Euros in 2013, as well as playing for Aston Villa reserves, despite being only 16. Player Lauren Jones is also part of the Birmingham City U17 squad and whilst being incredibly proud of the whole U16 team, special recognition is given to Charlotte Leedham, who has scored in every round of the competition this season and Evie Barons, who won player of the match in their semi-final victory.

St Bede’s already boast two National Cup wins with their Girls’ U13 squad winning in 2011 and their Girls’ U15 squad winning last season. They have also managed to reach National Semi-Finals in 2012 with their Girls’ U13 squad. Aside from ESFA National Competitions, they have also been Lancashire Cup Winners in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

St Bede’s boast past students such as Junior Hoilett (Blackburn Rovers/QPR), Andrew Taylor (Walsall), Anthony Pilkington (Cardiff) and Paula Walker, from the GB Bobsleigh team. To add to the list of accomplished sports stars, a number of their current players also have bright prospects with Brenna McPartlan playing for Blackburn, Lancashire and England U15 Girls’, Alicia Johnson and Katie Samuels for Blackburn & Lancashire, Megan Hester playing for Lancashire School Girls and Ocean Melling for Bolton Wanderers.

You can come along to support these teams, who have worked tirelessly to reach these National Finals and with entry only £4/adult and £2/children, you get to watch some top quality, Premier League sponsored football and cheer the girls’ on to victory.

Hospitality packages are also available for the day, allowing you the chance to not only watch the match, but to watch it in style from one of Birmingham City FC’s Executive Lounges, followed by a delicious post match meal with players and officials. Please contact Sarah Kearney if you are interested.

Good luck to both teams!
