Devon reached their first ever U16 Inter County Trophy Final with a 3-0 victory over Hampshire at BAT Sports Ground in Southampton yesterday (23 March).

Devon started brightly and hit the crossbar inside 30 seconds after a flowing move resulted in Daniel Gosling heading against the woodwork. After this frantic start the game settled down with both midfields giving the other little room to play.

Devon started to exert pressure midway through the first and had the ball in the net through Reece Moseley but it was ruled out through offside. The deadlock was broken in the final minute of the first half when Mitchell O'Donnell stabbed home from a corner.

Hampshire started brightly in the second half and only a string of fine saves from James Wannell denied the South Coast County an equaliser. Against the run of play Devon added a second through Ben Joyce who slotted home from eight yards and substitute Stuart Davies completed the scoring after rounding the Goalkeeper with ten minutes to go.

Devon will now face Lancashire in the Final. The ESFA will announce details of the final on this website when they are available.
