Meadowhead 4-1 Church Stretton

Meadowhead School (South Yorkshire) took on Church Stretton School (Shropshire) in this lunchtime kick-off to compete for a place in the final of the Royal Air Force Schools Cup for Girls. The final of this season's competition will be held at The Hawthorns, home to Premiership outfit, West Bromwich Albion FC.

Emily Rumsby scored the only goal in a tense first half for Meadowhead School. After the break Meadowhead continued their good form with further goals from Claire Watkinson and a second for Emily Rumsby. Church Stretton managed to pull one back thanks to Vinnie Tyler, before substitute Ellie Brightmore, sealed a place in the final with a fourth goal for Meadowhead.

Graham Vardy, Meadowhead Team Manager said, "What a fantastic experience for the girls. I would encourage all teachers to enter this superb competition"

Tavistock 3-2 Aylsham

Tavistock Community College (Devon) flew out of the blocks in this afternoon's encounter against Aylsham High School from Norfolk. Early strikes from Rebecca McMullin and Rhianne Parsons put Tavistock in the driving seat. Aylsham showed good character and were determined not to let their heads drop, despite the disappointing start.. Their persistence paid off thanks to a Dawn Mallett goal, but this revival was short lived as Page McGechie restored Tavistock's two goal advantage going into the half time break.

Aylsham continued to battle in a tense second half, Dawn Mallett set up a grandstand finish as she netted her second of the game for Aylsham. With the score at 3-2 to Tavistock and the seconds ticking away, Dawn Mallett again found herself free in the penalty area but this time she could not find the target and blasted her left foot drive over the bar.

In what was a great advert for girls' football, Claire Crowther, Team Manager for Tavistock said, "They've done the school and me really proud. It's all about teamwork and we worked together"

The final between Tavistock and Meadowhead will be played on Tuesday 09 May at The Hawthorns. Further details will be announced here when they are available.
