Stokes Wood take a 6 – 2 victory over Dane Mill in the first round of the Leicestershire FA Rice Bowl competition!
28 September 2016

On Wednesday Stokes Wood hosted Dane mill in the first round of the Rice Bowl. The Stokes Wood team featured 3 debutants including Chris, Heinos and Joshua. The boys were caught off guard when Dane mill took the lead with a well worked passing move around the static Stokes Wood defence.

Shortly after, the boys reorganised their shape and started to play some creative attacking football and scored 2 goals in the quick succession one for David and Jayden. For the rest of the first half it was end to end football with good chances at each end and the goal keepers we well tested but stood strong.

The second half Dane Mill pulled one back to make the score 2 – 2, with 15 minutes to go this spurred on the Stokes Wood boys and resulted in 4 well worked goals and an excellent double save by Stokes Woods number 1 Lennon. The goals came from David, James, Finn and George.

Well played to the whole squad an excellent performance all round and now we move on to face Glen Hills in the next round of the cup.

The ESFA would like to thank Stokes Wood Primary School for sending in their match report – and wish them luck in the next round of their competition!
