Warden Park went ahead early in the game held at the B2Net stadium, home to Chesterfield Football Club, on Monday 21 May, after some early pressure from Stratford Upon Avon.

The flowing move started out on the right hand side of the pitch, and was moved infield where Warden Park captain, Eleanor Macintyre, won a great tackle from the oncoming defender, to free Chloe Willis in the box to score past the keeper.

Stratford pushed forward after conceding and England U15 International, Molly Rouse, hit a booming shot from out wide on the right wing which flew all the way into the goal over the keepers head. They didn’t rest on their laurels and Stratford hit again within a few minutes, another shot coming in from Molly Rouse which the goalkeeper couldn’t deal with, deflecting it into the path of Lauren Jones to volley home into the net. Fabulous finish from the no. 9!

2-1 at half time, with a great atmosphere in the stadium thanks to all the great supporters coming out to cheer on their schools.

Both teams came out seeking to gain advantage in the second half, Warden Park were hunting for an equaliser and only some sterling work from Stratford’s Evie Barons and goalkeeper, Megan Revitt, kept them from conceding.

Warden Park kept pumping the ball forward and causing problems for the Stratford defence. Georgia Bowen and Chloe Willis would not give the back four a rest and continued making life difficult. Through all their pressure, they were unable to make it count and Stratford pushed on, moving the ball down the other end of the pitch for Hana Adler to finish the game off with a side footed finish into the net to take the National Championship for Stratford upon Avon.

Chloe Willis had a chance to grab a deserved consolation goal for Warden Park right at the death, side footing the ball just wide of the left post from a cross.

The final was a great exhibition for all the fans, and a testament to the quality and commitment of Girls’ football throughout the country. Well done and congratulations to all the girls who took part.
