The City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest Football Club was the venue for this year’s Under 16 Inter County Trophy Final. Durham County Schools' FA took on Oxfordshire County Schools’ FA for the title of National Champions.

Oxfordshire kicked off on a sunny afternoon in Nottingham. For the first 10 minutes the ball was moved about in midfield from end to end with both defences being tested.

A corner was put in my Oxfordshire’s Oliver Thomas with Jacob Hughes connecting the header but missing over the bar.

A chance in the 13th minute for Durham but was well defended and put behind for a corner.

Oxfordshire’s Conor Ingram played a through ball for Jacob Hughes but with pressure from the defence, missed the target to the left.

Durham free kick, in the 18th minute, just outside the penalty area, Michael Williamson delivered with Connor Halpin heading over the keeper to make it 1-0.

Goal for Oxfordshire in the 22nd minute with Liam Marshall crossing in a free kick and Dominic Hyam heading in for the goal.

Free kick to Durham, in the 31st minute, taken by Michael Williamson and Connor Halpin put it into the net, but the referee brought it back for a handball.

Oxfordshire scored in the 32nd minute when a tricky ball was drilled into the box and the Durham defender, Jack Gurr, put into his own net to put Oxfordshire in front

Oxfordshire’s James Clarke shot from very close range but the keeper managed to get down to put it behind for a corner.

The half ends as 2-1 to Oxfordshire CSFA.

Durham started the second half well with 2 breaks towards the Oxfordshire goal in the first few minutes but Oxfordshire broke free in the 47th minute with Jacob Hughes shooting but missing the target.

The ball was sent into the box by Durham’s Andrew White with Connor Lowes heading just wide.

Oxfordshire then turned it up with a spell of possession with 3 consecutive attacks, but all missing the target.

In the 66th minute of the game Durham scored an equalising goal. The ball was crossed high into the box and Durham’s Connor Halpin headed towards goal, which took a deflection off a defender and went in.

Durham then kept the pressure on with Connor Halpin breaking through the defence, but missed over the bar.

Oxfordshire then put on the pressure once again with the goalkeeper keeping them in the match with a diving save. The ball was then drilled in minutes later but no one on the end of it, and Durham being able to clear the ball.

In the last 10 minutes of normal time, both sides were playing some good football with end to end attacking, but neither team being able to score keeping it 2-2 at the end of normal time.

It took Oxfordshire 7 minutes to score with Dominic Hyam heading in from a free kick to put Oxfordshire back into the lead.

A minute later Oxfordshire’s Liam Marshall put into the box with Dominic Hyam scoring again. An identical goal scored just a minute earlier to put Oxfordshire closer to the title.

In the last minute of the first period, Oxfordshire were awarded a penalty for Durham's goalkeeper denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. The keeper saw a straight red card and Yassin Elouahabi converting the penalty to put Oxfordshire 5-2 ahead.

In the second half, Oxfordshire kept up the pressure with Yassin Elouahabi scoring again at close range taking it through the defence. The game ended with Oxfordshire beating Durham 6 goals to 2.

The teams were presented their souvenir medals by ESFA Chairman, John Appleby and Oxfordshire CSFA crowned National Champions.
