Thrilling game on the sloped pitch at The Underhill stadium, Barnet.

Lancashire started well and pressed hard attacking down the pronounced slope in the first half at Barnet Football Club. Creating chance after chance Lancashire pushed on but couldn't do more than test the keeper with some probing shots. A Freekick from Helen Seed was closest they came.

Hampshire looked to hit them on the counter attack and created one of their two first half chances with Megan Fox blasting over the bar as the keeper attempted to recover. Jodie Brett broke the deadlock and put Hampshire ahead after she looped a shot from 20 yards out which went in. 27mins played. 1-0 Hampshire.

The game opened up and both teams had chances with Lancashire shooting just a yard over the bar on the stroke of half time.

The tides turned and Lancashire pushed forward scoring two goals in quick succession. The first goal was bundled over the line with the help of three Lancashire players, and only a few minutes later Lorrie Doze added the second goal with a great strike centrally from about 20 yard out.

Game on with plenty of time left to play!

Both sides threatened with chances coming thick and fast at both ends.

Ellie Broomfield put Atlanta Primus through down the line with only a last ditch tackle from Helen Seed in 6 yard box prevented the goal. Hampshire no. 9 Millie Farrow looked lively and continually threatened, before going through on goal, rounding the keeper, and being subsequently taken down, earning a penalty for her side.

No 14 Atlanta Primus stepped up and slotted the penalty home.

Keira Walsh had a great strike from edge of box, just wide of right post, before the ball was played through again and with the Hampshire keeper coming out to attempt a clearance she crashed the ball against opposition striker Lorrie Doze who then only had to stroke it into an empty unguarded net.

Just when you thought it was over! In the 74th min Millie Farrow got what she deserved for all her effort; after being put through over the top and showing fantastic feet to beat the pressuring defender and the keeper, she calmly rolled the ball into the net equalising for Hampshire.

Lancashire carried on applying pressure, playing down the hill, but couldn't beat the Hampshire keeper Laura Medhurst. Lorrie Doze went through and shot across the keeper but just couldn't find a finish as the last few minutes ticked by. This proved to be the last piece of action in the game, the referee called time and the game went to penalties.

Hampshire win 5-4 with Atlanta Primus scoring decisive pen.

A tough way for anyone to lose a game, but either team could have taken it on the day with their free flowing attacking football and chances created. We would like to give a big thanks to both teams involved and all their supporters, Barnet Football Club for all their help and ESFA Chairman John Appleby for being present to preside over the awards ceremony.

Congratulations to Hampshire who now hold the record for most successful Girls Inter County Association!
