Barking Abbey School (Barking & Dagenham SFA)

Everton Football Club played hosts to this morning's U18 Schools' Trophy Final between Barking Abbey School (Barking & Dagenham SFA) and St Margaret's CE High School (Liverpool SFA).

Both teams emerged from the tunnel to the Zed Cars anthem that is famed for being the entry music when Everton play at home.

The game got off to a quick start with Barking Abbey taking an early lead after just 6 minutes with a headed goal from Farai Hallam following a free kick.  St Margaret's came close to equalising on 23 minutes, when hit the bar with a fine header.  Barking Abbey went two goals up on the half hour when Michael Thalassitis was put clear one on one with the St Margaret's keeper and showed great composure to stroke the ball into the bottom right hand corner.

Thalassitis could have extended teh lead to three goals just a few moments later but he blazed over from ten yards.

The second half began with their managers instructions still fresh in their minds, St Margaret's did well to hold off Barking Abbey's advancements but then gave away a penalty which was scored by Glenn O’Hanlon.

Paul Rickard, the Chairman of the English Schools' FA was on hand to present the Trophy to Barking Abbey School for the second time in recent hostory.
