U15 Schools' Cup (Boys) Champions - Harefield Academy

Harefield Academy

Harefield Academy (Hillingdon SFA) lifted the ESFA U15 Schools’ Cup for Boys as they defeated Lancaster School 4-3 after extra time, at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate this afternoon.

Harefield struck first on 11 minutes through Bernard Mensah. Lancaster equalised on 29 minutes courtesy of Jamaal Quigley to send the teams into the break level.

Harefield started the second half at a whirlwind pace and found themselves 3-1 thanks to a second from Bernard Mensah on 45 minutes and a Afolabi Obafemi strike on 47 minutes. Lancaster showed great character to battle back under the heat of the afternoon sunshine to draw level after Sam Rogers netted on 57 minutes and Elliot Francis equalising on 72 minutes.

With no further goals scored in normal time of an 80 minute match, the tie slipped into extra time. Clearly the heat was having an affect on some tired players but both teams continued to play quality football despite the sweltering conditions. Jordan Bholo scored the only goal in extra time, which was enough to secure Harefield Academy’s second national triumph this season, following their recent U16 Boys’ Cup success at Oldham Athletic.

Mike Coyne, Vice Chairman of the English Schools’ FA, was on hand to present the cup to the Middlesex team.
