John Madejski Academy v Thomas Telford School

The second game of the day saw John Madejski Academy take on Thomas Telford in the ESFA Under 18 Schools' Cup for Girls' Final.

Played on Wednesday 16th March at the Pirelli Stadium, home of Burton Albion FC, as part of our all-girl National Final event, supported by She Kicks Magazine, the FA, Continental Tyres the girls' took part in an event truly designed to celebrate girls' football ahead of the upcoming Girls' Football Week.

Match Action

It didn't take long for John Madejski Academy to get onto the score sheet with a fine strike from Lauryn Abery who was down as their top goal scorer in the match day programme with an impressive 38 goals before the Final.

Lauryn showed everyone at the ground why she was the top scorer with another goal quickly after her first putting her side 2-0 up.

As the game continued it was clear who the stronger side was as the goals kept flying in for John Madejski Academy.

Lauryn went on to score another two goals on the day bringing her season tally to 42.

Match Action

Thomas Telford's goalkeeper, Victoria Evans, did a great job in goal despite the score line. She showed great us all some great saves and lead from the back for her team.

The Final score was 10-0 to John Madejski Academy with goals from Laurey Abery (4), Kirsty Matthews (2), Tasmin De Bunsen, Amber Roberts, Maddie Sawyer and Georgia Clifford.

The ESFA Chief Executive, Andrea Chilton, ESFA Chairman, Mike Spinks, FA's Participation and Development Director, Kelly Simmons, were all on hand to help present the trophy and medals to all players and staff on the day.
