Leicestershire & Rutland CSFA celebrate Trophy win
Leicestershire & Rutland CSFA were crowned champions of the U16 Girls’ Inter County Trophy after they defeated Wiltshire CSFA 3-2 at Sincil Bank yesterday afternoon.
Grace Teah broke the deadlock for Leicestershire on 25 minutes following a scrambled effort. They then added a second shortly after half time thanks to Jess Hickey. Niamh Rawlins pulled a goal back for Wiltshire before Abby Picton scored teh equaliser in the last minute.
Jess Hickey scored her second goal and Leicestershire’s winner in added time. Paul Rickard was on hand to present the Trophy, along with the Lincoln City manager, Chris Sutton. Chris enjoyed a successful career at Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea and Celtic. He was once labelled the most expensive footballer in British football following his £5 million transfer from Norwich to Blackburn Rovers in July 1994.
