St Aidan's youngsters celebrate qualifying for the National Finals

St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School (Huyton PSFA) were convincing winners of the North Small Schools’ Soccer Sevens, played at a sunny Newcastle United Academy Ground on Wednesday 10th March.

Six schools representing counties from across the whole North Region played each other in a league format.  St Aidan’s won all 5 games with a marvellous goal record of scored 17, conceded none.  Their toughest game was against the smallest school in the tournament - Borrowdale, Cumbria’s champions.

There are just 15 pupils in Key Stage 2 at Borrowdale so to reach this stage of the competition and to finish runners-up to the strong Merseyside team was quite an achievement. However St Aidan’s ruled supreme and will surely provide stiff competition for any opponent at the National Finals to be held at Watford FC’s training ground on Saturday 1st May 2010.
