The England Under 18 Schoolboy International Squad took off for their annual warm weather training camp on Monday morning; their destination was Malaga on the south coast of Spain.

The trip will see the squad mainly undertake training sessions, but while they are out there, they will play in two “training” matches against CF Malaga (Tuesday 16th February) at Torremolinos Stadium and Gibraltar at the Victoria Stadium on Thursday 18th February.

The week will be vital for England Team Manager, Phil Nardiello, to assess the level of this year’s squad, after previous training weekends have been thwarted by the inclement British weather.

Nardiello will hope this season’s squad can replicate the success of last season, when the England Schools’ team were crowned joint winners of the SAFIB Centenary Shield with Northern Ireland after a thrilling one-nil victory against the Republic of Ireland at Waterford United FC, courtesy of a 75th minute strike from Jacob Baptista (Liverpool Community College and Merseyside CSFA).
