Link to Africa World Cup Project

The English Schools’ FA has teamed up with the DCSF Global Gateway school linking service which started in January 2010. The Gateway is a free service, offered by DCSF and managed by the British Council, helping schools to link and work together on projects that sit within the curriculum.

Cross-curricular projects are a speciality – so citizenship, history or geography could link with music, arts or sport to bring FIFA World Cup 2010 alive in your school!

Link schools are now available in Nigeria (including Muslim schools in some Nigerian states), Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Egypt and South Africa itself. A small number of Francophone schools in Africa are available too.

Not only is the link free, but there are free training sessions, online resources and funding available to schools hoping to link in Africa for a sustained, long-term link. School linking fits with the global dimension requirement of the QCDA’s curriculum themes, and also meets recommendations on the SEF (for a distinctive feature or kitemark).

Once you have linked and started to work together your school will be eligible for the DCSF International School Award Intermediate Level.

Find out more (including a free project that focuses on diversity and community) at http://www.globalgateway.org/worldcup and contact the Global Gateway on partnerfinding@globalgateway.org heading your email World Cup. It will help if you have already registered your school which you can do from the home page of the website.
