England completed the first game of their coaching week in Spain with a comprehensive 2-0 victory against CF Malaga U17s.

Playing good flowing football, the England boys had the ball in the net from their first attack but the referee ruled the goal out with a handball decision, only he could see from 40 yards. England continued to look dangerous and took the lead in the 13th minute when Johnnie Barden (Middlesex CSFA and Park High School) connected with a low cross from the right which was well supplied by Jack Wood (Gloucestershire CSFA and Hartpury College).

The visitors went further ahead in the 43rd minute after some good interchange between the forwards, Wood and Fabio Goncalves-Abreu (Greater Manchester CSFA and Loreto College). This led to the ball being laid off by Barden to the supporting Tom Hurley (Somerset CSFA and Millfield School) who slotted home accurately into the bottom right corner from 25 yards.

Following the half time team changes England continued to dominate without further addition, though going close on three occasions. On 75 mins second half goalkeeper Ed Baldy (Wiltshire CSFA and Wiltshire College) made an outstanding save low to his left, to foil the one effort on target CF Malaga had as they attempted to get back into the game.

Connor Thompson (Gloucestershire CSFA and Cirencester College) was impressive throughout. He, along with Tom Hurley`s constructive first half performance, were the star turns in a game in which the managerīs voice dominated.
