Champions - Greater Manchester
Drizzle greeted the early arrivals at the New Den on Monday 27 April. Greater Manchester led 1-0 at half-time with a goal from Matthew Chadwick. The half-time Essex team talk proved effective as they scored at the start of the second half through Semol Demirbala, a pupil from Sir Trevor Brooking’s old school.
However, Greater Manchester gradually regained control of the match and further goals from James Torkowski and Leroy Chintenger secured victory.
Nigel Brown represented the ESFA Chairman at this game – most appropriate really as Nigel is also the current Greater Manchester Chairman. After the game he made a presentation to Andy Ambler, the Millwall Chief Executive, to thank the club for their excellent hospitality. In his younger days Andy had represented Northamptonshire County Schools FA.
