Leeds Grammar School overcame Brinsworth School of South Yorkshire, 3-2, in yesterday’s RAF U16 Boys’ Round One Cup tie.  A brace from Bradley Hine and Ben Collins before the interval put Leeds Grammar School in a commanding position.  A brave second half performance from Brinsworth saw them fight back with two goals, however, this was not enough as Leeds Grammar managed to hang on until the final whistle to gain a place in the last 32.

Heaton Manor School (Newcastle) against St Joseph’s School (Workington) proved to be a classic nail biting cup-tie.  Heaton Manor forced the game in extra time with goals from Courtney and Douglas, before Paterson struck the winner to make make it 3-2 and send Heaton Manor through to Round Two.

Meanwhile, in the RAF U16 Girls Cup, Stourport High School made a confident start to the competition by overcoming Castle School from Bristol, 2-0, with two second half strikes from Kirsty Hughes and Becky Saunders.
