Day two at the ESFA PlayStation Schools’ Cup Festival brought unpredictable weather but unbelievable football with five gripping national schools’ football finals contested at the Madejski Stadium.

Following on from Aaron Ramsey’s appearance yesterday, England and Tottenham Hotspur star Andros Townsend dropped in to the Festival to lend his support to this exciting grassroots football partnership.

Thomas Telford lift the U13 B Team Trophy

The day’s on-the-pitch action began with two teams who both contested finals yesterday; Glyn School and Thomas Telford School in the Under 13 B Team final. It was to be Thomas Telford who would be double winners at the Festival with a 4-1 win meaning they will take a second trophy back to Telford after winning the U14 B Team final in Monday’s final match.

Broadlands win the U15 Small Schools' Cup

Up next was the first Under 15 encounter of the three days with Blacon High School taking on Broadlands Academy in the Small Schools’ Final. The game was blessed with two wonderful strikes, both by Broadlands’ Jack Goddard whose fantastic individual performance made sure it was them who would get their hands on the trophy as they prevailed 3-1. The second of Goddard’s strike was from fully 35 yards out and will surely feature in the ‘Goals of the Festival’ compilation that will be uploaded to the PlayStation Schools’ Cup YouTube channel after the tournament.

Andros Townsend Presents Didcot School with their U15 Girls' Trophy

It was the turn of the U15 girls next, with Didcot Girls’ School making their second consecutive appearance at the Festival after the same set of players won the U14 crown last year. It proved to be another successful day in Reading for the girls who fought back admirably from 2-1 down to battle past Woldgate College and get their hands on the trophy with a 3-2 win.

The trophy was presented to them by Andros Townsend who also spent time to hand out the runner-up medals to Woldgate College which hopefully went some way to easing the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the success.

Thomas Estley Community College lift the U14 Schools' Cup for Girls' Trophy!

Another thrilling girls’ match followed as another 2014 Festival winner returned in the form of Leicestershire school Thomas Estley Community College. It proved to be a case of lightning strikes twice as the school were inspired by four-goal Libby Smith whose incredible personal haul helped them to a 5-1 win. Their opponents Trinity School certainly left their imprint on the Festival as Rachael Blaylcock struck a fantastic 30-yard strike to wow the watching crowd who once again came in their droves to support.

King's School are Victorious in the Final Match of the Day

The final match of the day saw The King’s School from Chester take on Royal Docks Community School, who hosted the first ever Tie of the Round event back in September 2013. The Under 13 Small Schools’ Cup final saw a great standard of football throughout but it would be The King’s School returning to Chester with silverware after a hard-fought 2-1 win.

The first two days of the festival proved to be a resounding success and heightened anticipation for the final day of the event. All the matches in their full or highlighted versions are available by searching for ‘PlayStation Schools Cup’ on YouTube.
