Woodlands School with the Junior Boys' Cup

The English Schools’ FA, in partnership with the National Deaf Children’s Sports Association (NDCSA), recently hosted the National Deaf Schools’ Football Championships at the Soccerdome in Derby.

Hamilton Lodge School were crowned champions of the Senior Boys’ Cup after they overcame Braidwood School, 1-0, in a closely contested final. To view the results and league tables of this competition click here.

The Girls’ Cup was won by Heathlands School after they finished the tournament unbeaten and topped a league of 9 teams with 22 points. To view the results and league table of this competition click here.

Woodlands School were also unbeaten as they topped the league to lift the Junior Boys’ Cup, finishing one point ahead of Heathlands School. To view the results and league table of this competition click here.

Tom Lyons, Sports Development Officer for the National Deaf Children’s Society was also at the event raising awareness of the activities that the organisation offer deaf children. Tom enthused, “This is the biggest gathering of deaf children in sport in England that I am aware of and we are so grateful for all of the hard work that the NDCSA and ESFA do to offer this opportunity to our youngsters”.

Alongside the competition, Jessica Everhurst, a member of the England Women’s Deaf Football Squad, delivered a coaching session to a group of Primary Students.  Jessica was also on hand to present a participation medal to every player that took part in the event.
