While Bridgwater and Bishop Auckland both scored comfortable victories on the first day of the Silver Jubilee Festival on the Isle of Wight, all the other games were close fought. The most noteworthy event of the day was West Cornwall's first ever win at the Festival after 3 years as they defeated Derby 2-0 thanks to goals from Billy Anthony and Francis Lowry, though there was some controversy over the second goal when Lowry's hot was adjudged to have been over the line when caught by keeper Ben Allsop.

East Cornwall, in contrast suffered a 1-0 defeat by Vale of White Horse for whom Jack Westhead netted the only goal after a fine cross by Benji Anderson.

The local Isle of Wight side did well against a promising Hartlepool side. Two goals in two minutes at the end of the first half with Liam Neasor scoring from 20 yards with a spectacular effort and Luc Debaham equalising with cross shot for the Island brought a half-time stalemate but despite a period of Island dominance, it was Hartlepool who clinched victory when a fine run down the left by Jack Blackford in which he beat three Island defenders too easily and left Craig Linsel an easy tap-in. Hartlepool keeper made a good save with his legs before Jack Gibson missed great chance for the northern side when heshot wide of an empty net after beating a defender and keeper two minutes from time.

Possibly the best game of the day was Plymouth's 3-1 win over Coventry marked a welcome return to the Festival for the west country side. Plymouth's early dominance was rewarded when Jake Miller headed in a Jason Vincent cross for the only goal of the first half. A second header, this time from Toby Ogden who bravely headed in Owen Jones free kick as the keeper advanced. Jack Horswell made a fantastic save from a Coventry free-kick but could do nothing when a fine ball over the top was superbly controlled by Ephraim Page and hit past the keeper with pace. Coventry's win was not sealed until 5 minutes from time with Vincent again to the fore, when he set up Ollie Archer for a third goal.

The East Riding v Cambridge game was settled by a single goal for the Yorkshire side but there were plenty of goals elsewhere in the afternoon. Sam Iceton was the hero for Bishop Auckland with a hat-trick in their victory over Yeovil & District with the other goals coming from Adam Lee-Shields and Luke Molyneux, who ran half the length of the pitch before sliding the ball in at the near post.

Hyndburn and Ribble Valley who are fielding an Under 13 side at the Festival found Bridgwater'sstrength was too much for them, although the score does not do Hyndburn justice as they played some good football in patches. Rhys Hayward netted four of Bridgwater's goals while the others came from Brandon Wood, Danny Keane and Kieran Giles.
