In 2009 the Danone Nations World Cup Finals in Brazil were cancelled because of complications in some countries about swine flu and its possible effect on players involved. That tournament was re-scheduled for this year in South Africa where the 2010 Finals were already taking place.

As a result 2 competitions ran side by side at the University of Pretoria from 29 September 2010 to 4 October 2010. England was represented by Archbishop Beck Sports College from Liverpool in the 2009 World Cup and by Whitgift School, Croydon, in the 2010 event.

Representative teams from 40 countries around the world all eventually descended on the University of Pretoria.

The Whitgift School results over the period of the competition were as follows:

v Japan lost 0-2
v Ukraine lost 0-1
v United States drew 1-1 (won 5-4 on penalties)
v Bangladesh won 1-0
v Romania won 1-0
v Austria won 2-0
v Egypt won 2-1

As a result of the above games Whitgift played off for 17th and 18th place in the 2010 tournament at the Orlando World Cup Stadium in Soweto:-

v Tunisia won 1-0 (Finished 17th out of 40 nations)

The Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College results over the period of the competition were as follows:

v Switzerland lost 1-3
v Italy lost 0-1
v Indonseia lost 0-1
v Egypt lost 1-3
v Algeria drew 1-1 (won 5-4 on penalties)
v Australia won 2-0
v Uruguay lost 0-3

As a result of the above games Archbishop Beck played off for 35th and 36th place in the 2009 tournament at the Orlando World Cup Stadium in Soweto:

v Holland lost 0-4 (Finished 36th out of 40 nations)
