Myton School keep their U16 Cup
dreams alive with a 3-2 win ver Flixton

Myton Schoolgirls marched into Round Three of the ESFA Royal Air Force U16 Schools' Cup for Girls after a well fought victory away to Flixton Girls' High School from Greater Manchester.

The first half proved very even, however, it was Myton that broke the deadlock midway through the first half after a quickly taken corner resulted in Laura Dunlop converting from 8 yards.

Flixton came out for the second half in a determined manner, which saw them have most of the early possession. That early pressure resulted in a penalty being conceded by the visitors, which Kelly Sharples converted by drilling past the keeper.

Encouraged by this, Flixton dominated and soon their pressure told further, after a great save was parried by the Myton keeper only to see Ann Marie Royle convert the rebound to make it 2-1 to Filxton.

Myton then showed good character and managed to create a few chances, in which time the home team came close to stretching their lead after hitting the crossbar. With just 15 minutes to go Laura Dunlop (Myton) broke though two defenders and slotted home from ten yards to finish a good build up from the Warwickshire outfit.

This set up a grandstand finish with the match finely poised a 2-2. Chances came at both ends before Myton broke free on the right which saw the Flixton keeper save a powerful low 20 yard shot, but was unable to collect the rebound and Laura Dunlop tapped in from two yards to complete a match winning hat trick.
