Top Tips for Raising Income

Adrian Stores, the ESFA’s sponsorship broker, attended the County administrator training days to share his advice on fundraising and sponsorship. From that advice, a short guidance note has been prepared, and can be found below.

This section of the website is designed to help County and District Schools’ Football Associations with ideas on how to raise funds to help support the football activities that are offered throughout the season.

At a time when operating costs are on the increase and commercial sponsorship and grants are becoming increasingly difficult to secure, we hope that our member associations may be able to share their ideas on how to generate income in a bid to offset the cost of maintaining a robust portfolio of school football activity within your association.

Some of the more popular activities for fundraising are:

  • Match and Ball Sponsorship
  • Player and Kit Sponsorship
  • Coaching and Trial Events
  • Presentation Evenings
  • Football Tours
  • 100 Club
  • Race Night
  • Curry Night
  • Raffles
  • Sponsor Events
  • Bag packing at local supermarkets

The documents available for download below can be adapted for your association if you wish to utilise some of the ideas. If you have any fund raising suggestions of your own, feel free to share them by emailing

Travel and staging grants are available to associations participating in ESFA National Cup competition fixtures. Furthermore, annual grants are offered to affiliated associations that submit a business plan form.

Travel Claim Forms

This applies to the Inter Association Trophy and Inter County Trophy Competitions only.  Schools' FA Secretaries can complete and forward the claim form to ESFA HQ.  Claims must be forwarded within 7 days after the match has taken place.
