High Tunstall begun their PlayStation U12 Open Schools’ Cup run back in November and ahead of their Third Round tie against Harrogate Grammar School tomorrow, here’s their Round 1 match report
21 November 2016

In what can only be described as Siberian like conditions, High Tunstall U12s faced Harton in the ESFA National Open Cup competition. The team were entered into the competition following their great start to the season.

The visitors controlled the opening exchanges and neat footwork from Woolston resulted in a foul in the box which Woolly duly converted from the penalty spot. As the half wore on however, Tunstall put in their worst spell of play this season and were punished just before the break when the hosts broke clear to equalise.

A verbal rocket was delivered at half time and the second half was a much stronger display despite playing directly into a hurricane.

Woolston, Dixon and Stephenson all finished comfortably after great build up play from the creative Hogan, Wake and Swales in midfield. The team were also indebted to the imperious Joe 'Matic' Ryder in midfield for a number of expertly timed interceptions.

Unfortunately Round 2 opponents, Bellingham Middle School were unable to participate in the competition this season, leaving High Tunstall to take on Harrogate Grammar School for the third round win.

The ESFA would like to congratulate High Tunstall on their progress in the competition so far and wish both teams all the best for tomorrow’s third round tie.
