We are already seeing the County Rounds of the Danone Nations' Cup up and running after School Teams have qualified through their District rounds to compete at a County level.

The Danone Nations' Cup is a National Under 11 competition, where pupils are able to compete across four categories, School Teams, Girls', Small School and Inter District, to progress from District to County to Regional to National Finalists. The finals cumulate in an all day event, held historically at great central locations in England, where teams play to become National Champions in each of the four categories!

National winners of the Inter District competition also win the opportunity to become 'Team England', representing their country at the Danone Nations' World Cup event, held in various locations across the globe. Last season saw the Leeds U11 squad fly to Morocco to play in the prestigious competition. You can read more about it here.

Essex PSFA, one of the first counties to host their 2015/16 competitions, managed to find a team to progress through to the Regional rounds and one step closer to this season's Danone Nations' World Cup. You can read their report below.

'Barking & Dagenham Primary Schools' U11s are the toast of Essex after securing their 7th County title on Saturday at a sunny Chigwell School. Basilllio Rieno-Socoliche's wonder strike in the final secured a 1-0 win over Havering to see the boys from Barking & Dagenham stamp their name on the trophy once again.

Havering had stormed into the final with 4 victories from their 4 games. Crushing wins over Newham (5-0), Thurrock (5-1) were followed by 2-1 wins over Barking & Dagenham and Chelmsford to book their place in the final.

Barking & Dagenham were equally impressive in their group games. Despite the set back against Havering, wins over Thurrock (4-0), Newham (3-1) and Chelmsford (2-1) saw Barking through as well.

The final was a terrific advert for District football and the large crowd were treated to a high tempo, end-to-end final between the 2 best sides in the competition. Rieno-Socoliche's goal was worthy of winning any game and arrived half way through the first half. There seemed very little on when he received the ball with his back to gaol on the half way line. However, the Barking & Dagenham striker had other ideas. Skipping past 3 challenges he stormed into the area before coolly slotting the ball home to give his side the lead. A lead that they held onto, despite some late Havering pressure, to be crowned County champions.'

Barking & Dagenham will now go forward to represent the County in the South-East finals in early 2016. There they will be up against the best sides from the South of England and will be looking to emulate the Barking & Dagenham side of 2012, who went all the way to claim the National title.

We look forward to receiving more reports on the fantastic developments in this huge National Competition! If you would like to share your team's story, please email Sarah Kearney with all the details and photographs to see it featured online.
