Shenfield High School v The Elmgreen School

Shenfield High Schools' U12 boys hosted Elm Green from South London in round 2 of the ESFA National Cup. For 20 minutes there was little in the game with Shenfield dominating possession but with Elm Green threatening on the break. Kacy Parrish and Ellis Sullivan were at the heart of the Shenfield attack and each created good scoring chances before Parrish put Shenfield in front with a fierce low shot from the edge of the box.

A second goal followed quickly as excellent work from Joe Laws down the left wing saw him get to the bye line and pull back for Parish to add a second.

Elm Green threatened to pull one back before the interval but the Shenfield defence held firm and keeper Harry Power made one fine save to keep it at 2-0.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Shenfield dominated the possession but Elm Green created more chances with Power making 3 strong saves in the half and Shenfield skipper Oliver Portway defending resolutely. However, it was Shenfield who scored the crucial third goal when a good passing move was calmly finished by Joe Reed. A good day at the office for Shenfield was sealed when Kacy Parish completed his hat-trick to make it 4-0 with 5 minutes to go.

Shenfield U12 captain Portway remarked, "We have been really excited to play in this national competition and cannot wait for the next round. All our team contributed to this very good win but Kacy will grab the headlines with his excellent hat-trick."

The game was played in excellent spirit as seen at the end of the game when both teams were respectful of their opposition's efforts.

The ESFA would like to thank Mr Sapsford from Shenfield for submitting this match report for their team’s second round win. The team are now set to take on Kingsdale School in their third round tie.
