St Bede’s Catholic Middle School v All Saints’ Academy

St Bede’s made history as for the first time ever as their year 7 Football team competed in the National Cup for B teams. They played All Saints Academy from Cheltenham who won their previous rounds.

St Bedes started well and Captain Harry Bradley opened the scoring with a neat left foot finish. All Saints equalised shortly after with a neat finish that gave keeper Callum Read no chance. St Bede’s then began to dominate and managed to score six before half time. Harry Bradley completed his hat trick with another nice finish and converting a penalty while Max Grainger, Corey Dorgan and Ethan Lewis also scored. The second half saw St Bedes come under pressure as All Saints rallied.

The defence of Sam Summers, Declan Osland, Tyree Warburton, Daniel Smith and keeper Callum Read held firm for the majority of the half but All Saints did score a penalty to get a goal back. Harry Bradley scored another two in the second half to take his tally for the game to five, after good work from Patrick Rolinson and Keagan Iles.

St Bedes could have scored more but for some excellent saves from the All Saints keeper. Final score St Bede’s 8 All Saints 2. The result puts the B team in to the last 64 teams in the country!

Congratulations to all the boys on a superb performance all round.

The ESFA would like to thank Mr Russell, Assistant Headteacher of St Bede’s, for submitting this match report for their team’s second round win. The team are now set to take on either Walkwood CE Middle School or Tudor Grange Academy in the third round.
