St John’s Prep and Senior School rounded off a fantastic week of football results by being crowned the Under 11’s Enfield Borough Football Tournament winners.

St John’s young footballers produced seven unbelievable performances to win the title for the first time in the school’s history.

The Under-11s progressed through the group stage with four wins and a draw, conceding just one goal along the way and scoring seven.

In the semi-finals, St John’s looked down and out at 2-0 down, but our footballers showed determination to fight back and take the game into extra-time. Once again the boys went behind, but showed even more character to equalise once again, taking the game to penalties.

The penalty shoot-out went to sudden death with goalkeeper Philip Pawlik proving to be the hero, with his save sending St John’s through to the final.

Full of confidence from the penalty shoot-out win, the school’s Under-11s performed superbly in the final to record a 2-0 victory.
