Bishop Challoner v Langley School

On Tuesday 6th October on a very rainy and blustery afternoon, two teams of U13 girls from Bishop Challoner Catholic College and Langley School braved the elements to compete in the second round of the English Schools Cup.

Both teams showed sportsmanship and fair play with a competitive but friendly attitude to each other which was a pleasure to see.

With new year 7s joining the established year 8s there was a concern for tactics but the Bishop Challoner girls gelled together almost instantly becoming a formidable force. Our calm and collected captain, Eve, gave instructions from defence, the midfield made up of Anae, Lily and Ellie was the power house of the team, with 9 goals between them.

Great debuts from all of the year 7s, but Ella shone through up front with multiple assists and lots of fancy footwork, resulting in her nominated as players player.

The school was 11-0 on the final whistle and Anae being top goal scorer with 4 to her name. We finished with a very soggy but delighted team, inspired to play more and looking forward to progressing to the next round and taking on the challenge of our next opponent!
