Gateshead College following their win in last season's Girls' U18 Colleges' Final at Fleetwood Town FC

In the week that the ESFA link up with She Kicks magazine and show our support online ahead of Girls’ Football Week in October, Tim Breaker, Team Manager of Accrington & Rossdale College (AccRoss) has created a highlight video of their Round 1 Under 18 Girls’ Colleges’ fixture against Loreto College.

AccRoss took on Loreto College from Manchester in Round 1 hoping to progress to a Round 2 match against either Liverpool Foundation or Blackpool 6th Form.

AccRoss had the majority of the possession and the chances during the early part of the match but found Loreto to be resolute and GK in inspired form. The first goal was scored by Molly Martin with Grace Bullock instrumental in regaining possession high up the pitch to then pass to Katie Dudgeon who picked out Martin who with only the GK to beat made no mistake.

The 2nd goal came shortly after when Courtney Freakley picked out fellow central midfielder Karis Harrison who played an outstanding through ball to pick out Martin one on one again, this time finding the top left hand corner. Courtney Freakley was again involved in the 3rd when her combination play with Grace Bullock down the left hand channel culminated in Bullock driving inside and hitting an unstoppable strike across the GK and into the far corner.

Shortly after, AccRoss went 4-0 ahead when with a direct free kick from 20 Yards out. Karis Harrison managed to find the top left hand corner and cap a very good first half performance for herself and the team. There was one final chance just before the interval when an out swinging corner from the left hand side was met fantastically by Shannon Astbury but she was denied a debut goal by the woodwork.

Half Time AccRoss 4-0 Loreto.

Early into the second half substitute Ellie Hilton played a one two with Courtney Freakley before driving at goal and hitting a beauty into the top left hand corner for her first goal for AccRoss and put them 5-0 up. AccRoss kept the pressure on during the second period and had many chances to extend the lead but found a combination of Loreto defending, GK saves and poor finishing stopped them adding to the scoreline. However, with just under 15 minutes remaining another corner from the left hand side found Zaynab Hafeji unmarked 6 yards out and she made no mistake with the outside of her right foot to put AccRoss 6-0 up. Katie Dudgeon completed the scoring minutes from the end with an outstanding first touch finish into the top right hand corner after the impressive Ellie Hilton had got forward well down the right hand side and delivered a perfect cross.
