The ESFA have been offered the opportunity to give away two tickets to the new Bend it Like Beckham Musical, showing at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End!

The adaptation of the 2002 film, directed by Gurinder Chadha, follows the story of talented teenager Jess through her struggle to decide if she should follow her dream of becoming a world famous footballer, like her hero David Beckham, or live up to her traditional Indian family’s expectations of attending university, becoming a lawyer and getting married.

This fantastic musical theatre production comes at a time when, following the success of the England Womens’ team over the summer, the popularity of girls’ football is on the up. The production highlights the fact that girls’ can play the game, be successful and also gain great opportunities from following their dreams.

Bend it Like Beckham depicts Jess’ family struggles versus her desire to 'bend it like Beckham' in a whirlwind of emotive and rousing musical numbers alongside some excellent effects, allowing the football scenes to spring to life.
