Bath played host to its first international youth football tournament at the weekend with a collaboration between the Premier League and District Schools teams.

Premier League teams Everton, Chelsea and Swansea City were joined byteams from Sweden, Spain, Denmark and Lithuania to compete against school District teams including BWB (Bath & Wiltshire Boys), North Somerset and Erdington and Saltley.

The three day event was held at the new Sports Ground at Odd Down withspecial football activities provided by StreetSoccer for spectators and players.

Sponsored by the Premier League, the tournament was the beginning of a drive to create a platform for boys to learn in a fun environment between grassroots and Academy level, and judging by the standard of play and positive feedback from the participants, it will be the first of many to come.

Following 60 games, Rayo Vallecano of Spain emerged as the Champions with Chelsea finishing a close second. Pipped by the Danish side BK Skjold on the Saturday, the Bath team missed out on the Champions league spot on goals scored, but responded well on the Sunday to finish 2nd in their group, and 8th overall.

The Bath International Cup will return in 2016 with 24 teams expected to descend on Bath from all over Europe and America.
