Tomorrow marks the ESFA’s last National Final of the season and will crown the National Champions for the Girls’ U12 9-a-Side Competition.

Our Lady’s RC High School from Manchester take on Linslade School from South Bedfordshire, after they have both beat the opposition through 7 previous rounds.

The Girls’ U12 competition is regarded as a ‘warm weather’ competition with the viewpoint of encouraging more girls to take part in and remain as players of the sport as they progress through their school life. 254 teams entered the competition and the final will commence tomorrow with a 1pm KO at the renowned Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

Ahead of the final match of the season, please find below a brief bio of both teams.

Our Lady’s RC High School

"This is our first season in this competition which the girls have thoroughly enjoyed. We are currently Manchester School Champions, Greater Manchester Catholic Champions and unbeaten all season. This has been a fantastic year with some outstanding football played and excellent individual performances. This has encouraged and inspired other girls to get involved in football within school and the local community"

The team boasts Pat Weirkein, currently playing for FC United of Manchester, Maria Edwards for Manchester United, Thaila Morley currently in trials for Manchester City and Issy Cook for Manchester City.

Linslade School

"Linslade continues to go from strength to strength on the sports’ field. Our teams are practising hard and are incredibly busy taking part in a whole range of competitions locally and nationally. The very good news is that our Year 7 girls’ football team has now reaches the final of the National Cup; this puts Linslade in the top 2 in the country. Needless to say, we are all immensely proud of them and incredibly excited about the next stage!"

We wish both teams luck in their upcoming final and look forward to once again spending the afternoon at Lilleshall National Sports Centre!
