The ESFA U18 England Schoolboys’ squad finalised their Centenary shield preparations by returning to the Lilleshall National Sports Centre over 4 days from the 13th – 17th February.

They focused on creating a positive learning environment with the boys improving their understanding both in the classroom and on the pitch.

The weekend featured the team playing against Keele University, Chesterfield FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, in preparation for their first Centenary Shield match against Wales at Truro FC on 27th February. The games allowed a good insight into how the team will proceed in playing in this upcoming competition.

The playing squad created a good bond over the weekend and Andy Blight, Team Manager insisted that credit must be given to Adam Curry (Captain) for his leadership qualities.

Thank-you to the ESFA International management team who worked tirelessly to ensure preparation was outstanding throughout from Friday to Tuesday. A word of thanks again from Andy Blight to Roch Karaa, who stepped in at late notice to coach the goal-keepers following Andy Norwood's major shoulder operation. We look forward to welcoming Andy back into the fold at Truro.

We look forward in anticipation to the forthcoming Centenary Shield games and wish luck to both the Schoolboys’ squad and their management team.
