Fresh from Chelsea booking a place at Wembley in the Capital One Cup final, Blues and England star Gary Cahill surprised pupils at Carshalton Boys Sports College on a trademark cold winter morning in Surrey.

The defender was under the spotlight in the school’s main hall as he faced questions from pupils about all things football including his most memorable career moment and his favourite subjects at school!

Gary also took time to join in the school’s Under 12 team’s warm-up as they took part in a friendly against local Sutton-based Glenthorne School, some timely game time ahead of their crunch last-32 clash in the Under 12 PlayStation Schools’ Cup against The Causeway School from Eastbourne on Friday.

Gary was quick to pass on some defending tips to a few participating players before heading back to Chelsea’s Cobham Training Ground to reflect on last night’s narrow success over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

However the defender stayed round long enough to sign some school memorabilia, including a commemorative shirt and a matchday ticket from the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final – both the property of teacher Mr Bosdet who was in Munich to witness the Blues’ historic European triumph!

Gary’s appearance was a part of a memorable day for pupils at Carshalton Boys Sports College who enjoyed their sports hall being transformed into a PlayStation gaming zone for the day as well as professional coaching sessions laid on by the English Schools’ FA.
