All Hallows High School in Penwortham, Preston have gone beyond just having a team line up for the British Council’s Football Remembers campaign by staging an extra special event in the name of the Christmas Truce.
The school invited a girls’ and boys’ team from Bernstorff-Gymnasium Satrup in Germany to play two matches in honour of the centenary commemorations. The four teams headed to Bamber Bridge FC’s ground, the Sir Tom Finney Stadium in Preston on Thursday 11 December not only to play the match but also be greeted by Preston North End goalkeeper, Thorsten Stuckmann for a team talk prior to the matches.
