Over 50 budding footballers gathered from all over the south east of England to take part in the South East Girls’ U15 Development Day at the Capital City Academy in Willesden on Sunday 12 October.

Former Brent star Rachel Yankey made a special appearance and also gave the participants some words of encouragement. On holding this development day in Brent she said, “I grew up playing football in the parks nearby. It is important that talented local players are given this opportunity.”

Brent Schools Chairman Chris Ampofo said: “Special thanks to everyone that took part, especially the ESFA, for having the courage to stage the event here and giving Brent a chance.”

It is possible that following this event, some of the girls will have the chance to develop their skills further, becoming part of the England U15 International Team.

Stuart Botham, Chairman of the ESFA Community and PR Committee said “We were very lucky to have Rachel Yankey in attendance and she gave some great words of encouragement and inspiration to the girls. We had close to 190 girls in attendance yesterday across the country and the feedback I had from parents was hugely positive and I'm sure the other regions can boast the same.”

The next U15 Girls’ Development Day will be held on the 09 November. Details of all our events can be found both on our website and our Facebook page.
