Blessed Trinity RC College Winners

Winterbourne International Academy and Blessed Trinity RC College played at Pride Park, home of Derby County Football Club, to contest to take home the ESFA U15 Schools’ Cup for Boys.

The teams came out strongly with early chances from both sides, but it only took Blessed Trinity 9 minutes to break into the Winterbourne defence to score their first. Lewis Mansell scores from a cross as he hits the back of the net at the far post.

Winterbourne then started to pressurise the goal of Blessed Trinity with a few attempts. The best chance coming to Brad Hardaye as he hits a free kick from the edge of the area to force the keeper to make a save.

The chances were coming through fast towards the end of the half as Winterbourne’s Olly Mehew heads the ball just wide of the post.

Blessed Trinity then get a chance as Lewis Mansell gets into a 1 on 1 situation with the Winterbourne keeper but the rushing keeper holds on to defend his goal and keep the score to only a 1 goal deficit.

In the last minute of the half Winterbourne hit the bar from a free kick 25 yards out. The ball crashes against the bar and then is cleared by the Blessed Trinity defence.

1 minutes into the second half and Blessed Trinity have a penalty. Willem Tomlinson stepped up to take it and score to his right, the keeper had gone the correct way but wasn’t able to stretch for the ball putting Blessed Trinity 2 up.

Blessed Trinity then got their 3rd in the 55th minute as Liam Hall hits the ball inside the box but the goal keeper could not get down in time to save.

2 minutes later and Blessed Trinity score again as Willem Tomlinson scores as he took the ball into the box and slots past the keeper with little help from his defence.

One minute later and Blessed Trinity could have had another as Liam Hall hits the ball wide as the Winterbourne defence were sleeping.

Blessed Trinity found their 5th goal as Jordan Swift hits a free kick 35 yards into the net to put them up and out of sight.

The game soon ended with Blessed Trinity winning the game 5-0.
