Action from the Year 3 & 4 Festival at Hull University
This Tesco Fun Football Festival took place at the Hull University Sports Centre on Wednesday 20 June. The weather was just perfect for the 200 youngsters from local schools in the Hull and East Riding area. Because the Local Association already have a Year 4 Festival in their annual programme Wednesday’s Festival was for Year 3 boys and girls only. For many of them it was their first ever experience of organised football and how they enjoyed it. When it was time to go at 2.30 pm many teams asked for an extra match.
The thanks of the ESFA must go in the first instance to Tesco for sponsoring the event and sharing in the football development of the youngsters involved. The enthusiastic Tesco Community Champion, David Ryley from the Tesco Beverley store, was on hand to support the event and he and Louise from the Hull St Stephen’s store brought along healthy food options for all the participants to enjoy during the day. Blessed with a day of such beautiful sunny weather the water proved popular and ran out by early afternoon. The Tesco FA Skills Coaches were on hand to give what for most of the players was their first ever taste of organised football coaching.
This is one of eight regional festivals that the English Schools’ FA is hosting around the country throughout June:
