Audenshaw Schools - Boys' Cup Winners

Eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams from all over the country arrived in Derby for this year’s Under 12 Indoor 5-a-side National Finals, sponsored by Munich Trophies. The Powerleague in Derby, adjacent to Derby County Football Club, was the venue for this year’s competition with excellent facilities to befit such an occasion.

The opening ceremony saw each team presented with a plaque to commemorate their success in winning their respective Area Finals.

In the Boys’ Competition Queens’ School (Watford & District SFA) and Audenshaw School (Tameside SFA) topped their tables with Thomas Telford School (Telford & Wrekin SFA) and Malet Lambert School (Kingston Upon Hull SFA) coming in second place to qualify for the Semi Finals.

In the Girls’ Competition Houghton Kepier School (Sunderland SFA) and Whitechapel Middle School (Spen Valley SFA) won their groups. Great Cornard Middle School (West Suffolk SFA) and South Charnwood High School (West Leicestershire SFA) were runners-up.

Audenshaw and Malet Lambert progressed in to the Boys’ Final following semi-final victories. A close encounter ensued which eventually saw Audenshaw win 3-2, after extra time, thanks to a brace from Jack McKee and a strike from Aidan Hopkins. Malet Lambert’s scorers were Bradley Wilson and Billy Chadwick.

Whitechapel Middle School

Whitechapel’s captain, Rebecca Rayner, struck twice in the Girls’ Final to ensure they were crowned National Champions with a 2-0 win over Houghton Kepier.

The presentations were made to all teams on the day by John Appleby (ESFA Chairman) and Marc Cowcher (Munich Trophies).
