Fulham Football Club played host to this season’s ESFA Danone Nations Under 12 Schools’ Cup for boys on Wednesday 11 May 2011. The FA Chairman, David Bernstein, was guest of honour along with 1966 World Cup winner, George Cohen.

The teams were led out in front of a large crowd, by Premier League referee, Dermot Gallagher.

Cardinal Heenan School (Liverpool SFA) were taking on last year’s champions, Whitgift School (Croydon SFA). It soon became clear that Whitgift may be in for a tougher time than the previous season as Cardinal Heenan went in to the interval 2-1 up thanks to goals from Kevin Cringle and Luke Carroll-Burgess.

The second half was a similar story, as the school from Merseyside continued to exert pressure on the Whitgift goal. Further goals from Callum Lucy and Tom Grivosti sealed a 4-1 victory to ensure that the trophy would be heading to the north-west, with Steven Gerrard’s old school.

The ESFA Chairman, Mike Coyne, was on hand to assist the guests of honour in the post match presentations.
