The second day of the Isle of Wight Under 14 Festival brought another 36 goals to make the tally 74 from 18 games. Perhaps the day long sunshine has given every team a sense of freedom or, more likely, the teams are not as well matched as normal.

The game of the day was the one between Vale of White Horse, long standing supporters of the Festival and East Riding making only their second appearance at the event. Both sides played passing football despite the bumpy surface. Will Annan opened the scoring for the Yorkshire side but the Vale equalised within minutes. East Riding took the lead again early in the second half through Callum Lancaster but again the Vale came back with a Robbie Cundy header. A penalty two minutes from time by Harry Cardwell gave East Riding a second victory after their 5-0 thrashing of Cambridge on Day1.

There was anotherclose game with the same score between South Tyneside and Luton which featured a fine come-back by the former who trailed by two goals at one time.

Hartlepool and Mid-Somerset, two of the smallest Associations taking part in the Festival have also won twice with the former, following their 3-1 win over Coventry, defeating Bridgwater 6-0 although Bridgwater hardly deserved such a comprehensive defeat after having three excellent chances before Hartlepool opened the scoring. As Brigwater tired, however, Hartlepool scored five timesafter the break.

Mid-Somerset had very closely contested match with Cambridge which was settled by a stunning 25 yard drive form Josh Lewis, a replica of his first goal the previous day in Mid-Somerset's 4-2 win over the Isle of Wight.

Tameside who have brought two teams to the Festival also have a 100% record after two days with the Whites defeating Bridgwater and the Isle of Wight and the Blues beating West Cornwall 3-0 and Yeovil 1-0.

The two Cornish sides are having a difficult time with Coventry overcoming East Cornwall 4-0 although the latter never gave up, producing their best spell in the last ten minutes of the game. Coventry's performance was notable for two goals each from Bradley Hardwick and Kofi Staples.

West Cornwall lost 7-0 to newcomers, Nuneaton, who had their first victory at the event and also the outstanding individual performance of the day form Sam Witts who netted five of their goals.

Witts main rival for 'player of the day' was Isle of Wight goalkeeper, Bradley Taylor who produced a string of outstanding saves as they went down 2-0 to Tameside Whites.
