The Chief Executive’s email last month to all County and District Schools' FA Child Welfare Officers’ has really set the cat amounst the pigeons! Despite the warnings over the past 2 years many registered CWOs were unaware of the impending deadline for completion of Criminal Records Bureau checks and Child Protection Workshop attendance. Please take note of the following which are mandatory requirements for affiliation to ESFA (as directed by the Football Association):

1. If an Association is running a representative team they must have a registered CWO who has completed the FA’s CRB checking procedure and also have attended a County FA CWO workshop.

2. If the the Association does not run any representative sides and has only affiliated to allow their member schools to become affiliated to ESFA and for their pupils to be eligible to play County and National football, a CWO is NOT required.

3. This does not apply if you are only running a school team. The responsibility for your actions is undertaken by the employing Head Teacher.

CWO workshops are delivered by County Football Associations. Their details can be found on the FA web site www.TheFA.com or by googling their county name. CRB checks issued by the local authority or another National Governing Body are NOT transferable and an FA CRB check is required. The forms for application are available on the ESFA website or through the office on admin@esfa.co.uk
