James Norwood’s footballing career has reached new heights since he left St Bede’s College in Hailsham, Sussex, at the end of the Summer Term 2009. The former Sussex County Schools FA and England U18 Schoolboy International made his league debut on Saturday 15 August 2009 at St James Park, home of recently promoted Exeter City. James was selected in Manager Paul Tisdale’s starting line-up for the League One encounter against Norwich City. James, playing up front, gave some experienced Canaries defenders a lively afternoon before he was substituted midway through the second half.

James, 18 years old, had played for England U18 Schoolboys at Wembley Stadium against a full-strength French U18 team in June. He had appeared earlier in the season in ESFA Internationals in the Carnegie Centenary Shield against Wales, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

James was a member of the St Bede’s school team which won the ESFA U18 Schools Trophy at Aldershot Town Football Club in March 2009, scoring twice in a match after which his school side were crowned National Champions after an emphatic 5-2 victory against Carre’s Grammar school from Lincolnshire.
