English Schools’ FA National Finals are quickly becoming famous for their excitement and action packed matches that are bursting with goals and entertainment for lucky spectators. This afternoon at Aldershot Town Football Club was no different as seven goals were smashed home in front of over 500 vociferous fans.
St Bede’s (South East Sussex SFA) flew out of the traps and took the game straight to Carre’s Grammar (South Lincolnshire SFA). There efforts were rewarded as the south coast team found themselves 2-0 up at the interval, thanks to goals from Bradley Bant and England Schools’ International, James Norwood.
Carre’s Grammar mounted a spirited comeback after the break as they levelled the scores with two quick strikes from Michael Neaverson.
St Bede’s eventually ran away with the tie in the final stages with goals in quick succession from Dan Gorringe, Moritz Diemer and a second from James Norwood.
Dave Leggett, St Bede’s team manager, enthused, “This was a wonderful occasion for schoolboy football. The spirit and character shown by both teams was excellent”
“I’ve told my lads that it shows you what can be achieved through hard work, discipline and focus. Today is a fantastic reward for two years of hard graft shown by this group of young players”
