Carnegiel Centenary Shield

England Schools Under 18 Carnegie Centenary Shield hopes received a boost on Friday evening as the Republic of Ireland were held 1-1 by Scotland at Hearts FC.

The Irish took the lead with 35 minutes played when Carl Forsyth rounded a number of defenders to slot coolly past the Scot’s keeper, Ross Laidlaw to finish in the bottom corner.

Ireland didn’t enjoy the upper hand for too long as two minutes later, Jamie Burstow equalised to the delight of a good home following. Full report.

The result now puts England and Northern Ireland in a strong position within the group and the two teams will go head to head on Friday 27th March at Macclesfield Town FC. The winners of that match will undoubtedly become hot favourites to lift the Carnegie Centenary Shield this season.
