Champions: Hartpury College
Abdul Waris Majeed of Hartpury College stole the limelight last night after smashing a superb hatrick to take home the match ball at the ESFA U18 Colleges’ Trophy final at Dagenham & Redbridge FC.
Majeed’s opened the scoring on 10 minutes with a well taken penalty and then extended Hartpury’s lead with two further strikes on 31 and 46 minutes.
Hopwood Hall continued to battle hard and were nearly rewarded with an astonishing comeback. Ashley Reece pulled a goal back on 81 minutes and Jamie Mack setup a late tense last few minutes when he added a second in injury time.
Hartpury managed to hang on and were crowned the U18 Colleges’ Trophy Champions for the first time since the tournament commenced back in 1968.
