N.U.T. Trophy

Poole & East Dorset made history yesterday as they travelled to South Wales to defeat Swansea 3-2 and earn a place in the Semi-Finals of this season's ESFA U15 Inter Association Trophy, sponsored by the National Union of Teachers.

A first half strike from Ben Reeves saw the visitors take a 1-0 lead into the interval. Second half goals from Matt Oldring and Ashley Ayley were enough to see Poole through a close encounter. Swansea's goalscorers were Adam Orme and Joel Kabil.

Never before has the south-coast association made it to this stage of the competition, so they will be relishing the prospect of travelling to Nottingham, who themselves are currently enjoying their most successful run in the competition since its induction in 1905.

Poole & East Dorset's previous best efforts were thwarted at the following stages:

1955-6 Rd 5 Liverpool 3 Poole 0

1962-3 Rd 5 Southend 6 Poole 1

1976-7 Rd 5 Oxford 5 Poole 1

1977-8 Rd 5 Newham 2 Poole 1

1982-3 Rd 5 Swindon 3 Poole 0

1991-2 Rd 4 Poole 0 Colchester 2

The revised Semi-Final draw for the Trophy now reads:

Nottingham v Poole & East Dorset

Blackheath or Reading v Worksop & Retford

Reading is the only remaining association in the competition that has previously won the Trophy. So there is every chance that there may be a new name engraved on the Trophy this season!
