Republic of Ireland needed to beat Northern Ireland last night to draw level with England in the points table and therefore, jointly hold the Centenary Shield for this season. Unfortunately for the Republic, they could only manage a draw, which handed the Shield to England as outright winners for 2006.

Delighted England Schools' Officials and Players will be hoping to be presented with the Centenary Shield at the ESFA N.U.T. U15 Inter Association Trophy Final (Second Leg) at Liverpool Football Club on Saturday 6 May, Liverpool v Swansea.

This has been the perfect way for Peter Chisholm to sign off from his three year term as England Schools' International Team Manager, who will no doubt be very proud of his young players this season.

Pete's successor will be Tony Martin, who has been the current Assistant Team Manager this season. Tony will take over the post of Team Manager for the 2006-2007 season.

England Centenary Shield Results 2006

Won 3-0 v Northern Ireland at Glenavon FC
Won 2-0 v Scotland at Plymouth Argyle FC
Drew 0-0 v Republic of Ireland at Crawley Town FC
