N.U.T. U15 Inter Association Trophy

Darlington overcame north-east rivals Sunderland 4-3 on Tuesday evening in what proved to be a classic cup-tie in the Under 15 Inter Association Trophy. Two goals from Gary Martin and Phil Caley booked Darlington’s place in the next round. Although Sunderland goals from Daryl Scaife, Anthony Ashman and Ryan Graham made it an uncomfortable passage for the home side into Round Five.

Blackpool made the long trip up to Spennymoor Town FC to take on Bishop Auckland on Wednesday evening. Things started badly for the visitors as Jason White converted a Shane Todd cross for Bishop Auckland after just three minutes. Shane Todd again turned provider on 20 minutes with a through ball for Andrew Cook who slotted home past the advancing keeper. Blackpool exerted pressure before and after the break but failed to take any of the chances they created. Good buld up play by Jason White on 66 minutes led to Fergus Bell volleying home from twenty yards to make it 3-0. It was always going to be a damage limitation exercise for Blackpool from this point on Good interplay between Todd, White and Cook let Andrew Cook in for two more goals to complete his hat trick and a resounding 5-0 win for the north-easterners.

Other key ties see Newcastle entertain Allerdale at Prudhoe Community High School at 12:00 noon tomorrow (Saturday 17 Dec) - Solihull play hosts to Worcester at Light Hall School at 11.30 am which is also tomorrow - Cambridge will use Histon FC's ground to play St Albans on Monday (19 Dec) evening with a 7.30 pm kick-off.
